With the growing demand for safe food (especially Organic Food) in sufficient quantity, among the consumers all over the world and its short supply has been a cause of concern. Among the various reasons it has been found that lack of awareness about the specific practices to the producers is one of the most important reasons. Realizing this, SIMFED has decided to venture into the activity of Training & Skilled development in the field of Adoption of Organic farming, Facilitation for Certification, Post Harvest Management, Market intelligence & marketing Tie-up’s, Sustainable agriculture & facilitation for certification under organic standard. For this purpose it has entered into an Adoption and Certification of Organic Agricultural, Horticultural and Cash crops with support of Sikkim Organic Mission, FSAD & HCCD, Government of Sikkim and other various state governments (through sponsored schemes) in achieving this great endeavor.

Based on the marketing opportunities and expertise SIMFED had started exploring the organic sector of the agricultural scenario and had taken the responsibilities of the organic certification process in the state of Sikkim. Presently, the SIMFED is awarded the task for the ICS Management for the Organic Certification of 3000 ha in the state of Sikkim for the years 2010, 2011 and 2012. Further the organization has been awarded for 1700 ha, 2500 ha and 600 ha area in Odisha, Jharkhand and Assam respectively.

Further, to strengthen the activities and expand its operations in other parts of India, SIMFED had tied up with M/S SHRI RAM AGRO INNOVATIVES (A Unit of Shriram Solvent Extractions Pvt. Ltd, Uttarakhand, ISO Certified. 2001 – 2008). Shri Ram Agro Innovatives is also having adequate experience of Organic Adoption and Certification with a complete team and operating the project for 1500 ha under NHM in the state of Chhattisgarh.

To assist the technical people, the Implementing Agency got a team of well qualified management experts for the smooth implementation of the project.
